Today, Manlius offers affordable living choices, renowned health care services, great business opportunities, on-going cultural activities, and commercial growth. Probably the nicest place to sit and relax in town is the famous Swan Pond that’s been around for years. And, if you ask many of the locals, they’ll tell you about Suburban Park, an amusement park from days gone by, that attracted folks from all over the state. The Village Centre features an indoor gym and auditorium which hosts sponsored events. There’s a softball and soccer field, amphitheatre, and playground found there as well. The newly refurbished Manlius Library is also a must-see destination.
Living in the Village of Fayetteville
Although located in the “Town” of Manlius, Fayetteville is located just north of the “Village” of Manlius. This charming hamlet sits at the corners of East Genesee St., Manlius Street and Salt Springs Road. You’ll find the Towne Center Shopping Plaza with stores like Target and Kohls, as well as many small shops. Today, homes fill the farm fields and orchards that once surrounded the village center. In each neighborhood, parks provide play space. The Erie Canal has become a recreational hiking trail, and Green Lakes State Park on the eastern edge of the village preserves part of a primeval forest with two unusual, deep green colored lakes.
